Attorney Ángela-Patricia Ramos was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She graduated with distinction from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, where she dual-majored in Political Science and History. As a student there, Attorney Ramos was acknowledged for her work as a research assistant in Teaching Olaudah Equiano’s Narrative: Pedagogical Strategies and New Perspectives (2012), published by the University of Tennessee Press.  

Attorney Ramos is a proud graduate of Rutgers Law School. While at Rutgers, she worked as a Certified Legal Intern at the Office of the Attorney General of New Jersey and in the Rutgers Immigrant Justice Clinic. Additionally, she was selected for the National Mock Trial Team and served as a teaching assistant in the Trial Advocacy Program. She also participated in the Street Law Project, where she taught a Constitutional Law course to high school students, and the Voters’ Rights Project, where she registered incarcerated individuals to vote. At graduation, Attorney Ramos was awarded the Rutgers Law School Pro Bono Publico Award for Significant Service to the Community. 

Prior to becoming an Assistant Public Defender, Attorney Ramos served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Judge Rayford Means of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and to the Honorable Judges Christine Orlando and Angelo Di Camillo of the Superior Court of New Jersey. Attorney Ramos is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She is a native Spanish speaker and frequently provides Spanish-language interpretation services to the clients of the Public Defender Office. 

Attorney Ramos joined the Monroe County Office of the Public Defender in November 2021.
