Yes, as a foster parent candidate, you are required to participate in pre-service training. Once you become
an approved foster parent, annual training sessions are mandatory. All training is offered at no cost and
can be accessed at the agency office or online.
The duration of a child's placement can vary significantly. Some children may only need care for a few
nights, while others might require long-term support. Generally, the primary goal is for the child to
return home, though in some cases, adoptive homes may become necessary.
Absolutely! Foster parents are responsible for transporting children to all necessary appointments,
including doctor visits, dental check-ups, visitations, and possibly therapy or school. We do offer mileage
reimbursement for these trips.
While foster care should not be viewed as a substitute for adoption, certain children in care may become
eligible for adoption. If foster parents are interested in pursuing adoption, that option can sometimes be
available.
No, all children in care receive medical coverage. This includes insurance for physical and mental
health, as well as dental and vision care.

 
Yes, there are standard reimbursements for expenses such as room and board, mileage, allowances,
clothing, and other related costs. This information will be reviewed during the pre-service training.
