The PA Department of Environmental Protection's West Nile Virus (WNV) Program will be conducting a truck mounted, ultra-low volume (ULV) mosquito control event in Pocono Township, Monroe County. The control work will begin in the late evening on Tuesday, September 24th 2019.
Populations of adult mosquitoes capable of transmitting EEE (Eastern Equine Encephalitis) have been detected in this area during this seasons trapping events. Recently, a bird found in this area tested positive for the EEE virus. To provide you with more information on EEE I’ve included this link to the CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/easternequineencephalitis/index.html
I will be on-site for the application. The business license for Monroe County Vector Control is BU 3746. The product used will be Biomist 3+15 applied at a rate of 0.75 oz./ac. This product is designed to provide quick knockdown and effective control of adult mosquitoes, and for quick environmental dissipation following the event. Weather conditions and other unexpected events could delay or cancel this spray event. If this operation is cancelled, it may be rescheduled for Wednesday, September 25th.
