The PA Department of Environmental Protection's West Nile Virus (WNV) Program will be conducting a truck mounted, ultra-low volume (ULV) mosquito control event in Barrett and Stroud Townships, Monroe County. A private residential and recreational area in Barrett township will be sprayed for adult mosquitoes, and in addition a residential area including the Alinda Ln. and Tyler Dr. circle in Stroud Township. The control work will begin in the late evening around sunset on Wednesday, July 24th 2019.
High populations of adult mosquitoes capable of transmitting WNV have been detected in these areas. Resident complaints have been logged and investigated.
I will be on-site for both applications. The business license for Monroe County Vector Control is BU 3746. The product used will be Biomist 3+15 applied at a rate of 0.75 oz./ac. This product is designed to provide quick knockdown and effective control of adult mosquitoes, and for quick environmental dissipation following the event.
Weather conditions and other unexpected events could delay or cancel this spray event. If this operation is cancelled, it will be rescheduled for Wednesday, July 31st. Please contact me at Lschuler@monroecountypa.gov or by phone at 570-517-3416 (office) if you have additional questions or concerns.
