West Nile Virus and Zika Virus Information
Currently we are proceeding through this year’s program in the same manner as previous year. Mosquito surveillance and control is being conducted throughout Monroe County. It is important to remember that the best way to prevent any transmission of any mosquito borne disease is to remove any sources that may allow mosquito breeding. These sources include, but are not limited to, standing water in tires, ornamental ponds, bird baths, and puddles.
As of May 4, 2016; The Zika Virus has not been transmitted via mosquito inside of the Continental United States.
If you may have any questions, concerns, or mosquito complaints; please visit the educational material page, the forms page, or contact the Vector Control Office at 570-517-3416.
