Welcome to the Assessment Office
The Assessment Office is responsible for the valuation of real property for ad valorum (at value) tax purposes. This office does not establish the actual tax amount; we are responsible for the valuation of all real property in the county on which taxes are calculated and levied by the various taxing authorities. Our office also administers the Homestead & Farmstead Exclusion Program (ACT 72-2004) and the Clean and Green Preferential Assessment Program (ACT 319).
You must apply for the tax relief by filing a Homestead Exclusion Application with the County Assessment Office prior to March 1st. This must be your primary residence and the County requires 2 forms of approved identification reflecting your current address. The acceptable forms are: a)PA Driver’s License or ID Card, b) PA Voter Registration, c)Berkheimer tax document, d)Paycheck stub or W2 form and/or e) Monroe County License to carry a fire arm. Please submit the completed application along with the 2 forms of identification to the Monroe County Assessment Office. You will receive notification of acceptance or rejection within 30 days of receipt of the application and supporting documentation.
